Ive gotten a friend of mine a miniture jack russell pup,its about the size of a kitten and she doesnt drive so would have to get the train or the bus up,can you bring a dog of this size on if there enclosed in a crate? Id be grateful if anybody could tell me?

im pretty sure you can, or even on a bus. ive heard of many old people who rely on public transport having pets and they bring them to vets....so they must use traiins and buses. just make sure he's in a secure crate and dont take him out, maybe stand near the door too so you dont take up a seat and he has fresh air.
id say it will be ok, most people are very tolerent. if u are in real doubt you might want to ring irish rail and make sure...but i honestly think its ok

Animals have to travel in crates on the guard's van in trains ever since a snake escaped (or was let out by some brat) from a box someone left on the luggage rack

    Found this on www.iarnrodeireann.ie/home/faq.asp?faq_id=38#38

Pets (with the exception of Guide dogs) are not allowed onto the DART or Suburban rail trains. They are allowed on Intercity trains ONLY in a box or muzzled.

I have seen pups on the intercity train before in a box on the seat. Travelling in style

Also Taxi's can take animals if the driver agrees. This is from the Taxi Comissioner

"The carrying of animals will be at the discretion of the driver but no charge will apply where animals are carried. The driver will not have the right to refuse to carry an assistance (guide) dog unless on certified medical grounds."
