I turned on my macbook this morning and all the settings like exposé and dashboard had gone back to default along with all application like msn and safari. Meaning I had lost all my bookmarks. I managed to find a bookmark backup file for "2007-08-20" but that is not very recent at all. Is there anyway I can get back all my bookmarks or do I just have to live with the loss?

    Thanks for your help.

edit; i just shut it down and booted it back up and it lost all the settings again. what is going on?

Have you been renaming or moving folders? Such as your user folder? Sounds like the system can't find your user account and is creating a new one.

    nope i haven't.

i have managed to fix it by going into disc utility and repairing but is there anyway to get my bookmarks back or are they gone forever?

edit; gosh i fix one thing and something else happens. i fixed it but now my itunes wants me to re-add all my music. how sad.
