What to do with old dvd's?

What can I do with old dvd's? What do people do with DVD's that a newer special edition has come out for and you buy? For example I have the original Donnie Darko that I want rid of but there's a thousand on eBay not being sold at £0.01...do I just dump it?

It's the same with Sin City...I've just ordered the Collector's Edition from Play but I have the original single dvd release. Do people just chuck them in the bin?

maybe you can give them to your local charity shop, or as I have done in the past with my old VHS collections give them to a local hospital where they have permanent residents.

I just gave 2 of my ones away last night, that I have newer editions of....

Human Traffic and Donnie Darko surprisingly....

Or....you could send a message to the companies that put out these so called "collecters editions" (lets face it, they are mass produced by their millions, hardly a collecters item!) and stick with the copy you already have, at the end of the day all you really want is the film, you may watch the extras once or twice at a push.
Spend the money you save on films you dont have, or might not have seen before.

    Share them with boardsies?
We should set up a non profitable swap site for boardsies who want to see movies recommended by users.
One dvd for One dvd.

I'd recommend trading in them in in Gamestop. I have no idea what they'd give you for any given film as I am a notorious hoarder, but the service is available.

Gamestop will only give you €1 a dvd which is hardly worth it.I had about 15 dvds that I bought newer versions of,I just left the old versions in my mums
    house.

Don't bother, at least not at the minute. They have huge numbers in stock (or so they say), and are paying pittance at the minute - I brought in 5 DVD's and received the grand total of €3.15, with prices ranging from €1.50 to 30c (I kid you not).

That's a pretty cool idea. Do they still take tapes these days (or would they even know what they are if I presented some to them?)

Find a smaller second hand shop. There's one that I often buy and sell from, and get a good few bob for a couple of DVD now and then.

I'd usually just give them to my parents or brother, feck all point trying to sell them and it should be a criminal offence to throw away a perfectly good dvd...

Just loan them to a friend and never ask for them back.
Thats how I got rid of alien verses predator.

Just check if they have a vhs player, some have them in the main "day" rooms, some patients have them in their own rooms (if they are bedridden)

I gave them to a kind of hospice/hospital for elderly patients who (to put it bluntly) don't return home.....ever :(

They went down a treat. I also gave them my old dvd player when I upgraded so if I ever get fed up with my dvds or when I am fored to replace everything with Blu-Ray , I am sure I will hand over my old dvd collection to the hospice.

I generally give them to one of my housemates, unless he has it already in which case i'll give it to somebody I know who likes the flick.

I had never really thought about hospitals... I wonder if there an official channel to go through, or would you just roll up with a sack full of movies?

I'd give even 2 Euros for some older DVD, if it was something good.
