New Challenge!?!

I've got a challenge for ye....

    It comes with a brief..

Munsterpubs.com is quite possibly Ireland's only 100% impartial Pub, Restaurant & misc watering hole review website. We're completely independent of any brewer or drinking establishment and have, at the moment, about 400 pub reviews on the site. Prior to a step up in advertising and promotion of the site in 2008, we're looking for an image or images of pubs (preferably in Ireland) to use as a header on the site. Dimensions will be about 950 x 200px. Successful entry or entries (as judged on by our varied and wise panel of experts) will be displayed on the website header along with a credit to the entrant.

What we do want to see:
    • Imaginative shots of pubs (preferably in Ireland)
    • Creative interior shots
    • Something decent!

What we don't want to see:
    • Boring shots of the outsides of pubs
    • 'snaps' of you & your friends in a pub
    • Pubs that aren't either Irish or in Ireland

Successful entrants will, quite possibly, have a pint bought for them at some stage...

Entries to mail@munsterpubs.com or post images here. Now, no more complaining that there's no more photo challenges... I told ye I'd sort something out :D

    Interesting!

    Few questions...

Are you looking for a single banner image, or could it be a montage? And what's the closing date for entries? Lastly, can I verify despite the site name, the pubs don't have to be in Munster!

Sounds like a great excuse to visit loads of pubs. :D

I'm leaving all the creative decisions up to the entrants... A montage will be perfectly acceptable as long as it doesnt look like a hack job :)

There is no closing date at the moment.

And yes, although the site is called Munster Pubs, there are pubs on there from all around the world. Maybe time to get a new domain name? :D

I use hosting365 here. Are you on the linux or windows package? I've installed coppermine on the linux server without any problems, actually just about everything works without issues on it but windows is not as complient.

I think I'm on the windows package :o

You may have to contact them to change permission on some fies/folders. I changed over to the linux package because of this. I'll try an install on windows server this evening with coppermine and see what it's like.

windows is great if you're doing specific work like developing in asp or that kind of codology. Move to a linux package if you can, it's far more compatible with everything and a damnsight easier to work with...

Now stop hi-jacking my thread ye feckers!

    That's out of focus?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

Well, there's motion blur rather than a lack of focus. But it doesn't render it useless, indeed I think it adds something to the atmosphere. Unfortunately the bud light poster isn't so easy on the eye :(

I was at Johnnie Foxes yesterday and was all set to take the competition by storm, but the feckers have covered the place in scaffolding!

Ok... it's a very serious competition methinks so I need to take serious photos ... And be seriously sober. In a pub... That's like an oxymoron but will see :D

I like it. Pity about the Bud Light photo in the background though. Without it the photo would have looked a lot more "traditional".
