Dump the Inchicore on and stick with the Darndale, I think it tells more of a story..:)

    Baz,

I'd keep Inchicore. For me it works much better. Tighter composition (a frame within a frame) and it has a small sense of claustrophobia, showing the higher density, inner city social housing that never really worked out. It shows kids looking after kids which provokes an emotional response. The subjects in Inchicore also have better interaction with the camera.

Number 1 is still a nice shot but for me it's just not as strong. I've seen alot more images similar to the Darndale one over the years and maybe they've lost their impact on me a little. It alsohas more of a snapshot/quickly composed feel to it.

Thats just my take on both images.

    Pete.

personally i think keep the inchicore one, the washed out sky, chopped feet and tyre on the right hand side all distract from the effectiveness of the darndale one...maybe convert it to black and white just to keep with the rest of the theme and I would slightly straigthen the window too, it looks just a little off...its a pity about the small things in the first one but if its for an exhibition then Its hard to over look the technicalities...compositionally the inchicore one is far stronger too...

+1 Inchicore, although I'd go with the colour version, and maybe straighten it out a bit ? Something about the angle bugs me. Could just be me though ...
OTOH, do you have a slightly looser crop on the darndale one ?

Inchicore for me as well and in colour too.

Also, it doesn't need straightening, the concrete around the window is all straight it's the window that's been put in crooked

yeah , i think by popular choice i will go for colour version of Inchicire , luckily as well , i still have a framed copy, as it didn't sell , so i can reduce mycosts :)

As regards straightening , i gave the b&w version a further go , but the window frames themselves are slightly out , but i like the natural looking frame that the window sills give.

I've just had a chance to look at the collection on Flickr Barry. It's a great collection of images. Reminds me of Derik Speirs social documentary stuff. It is ageless and really captures a reality of our time. I'm looking forward to seeing them in the flesh.

thanks Danny - i think they look a lot better framed and in print , than on a monitor .
Doing a lot more advanced planning for this one, so i won't hopefully have lloads od last minute stress, and might actually enjoy it, this time !
anyway had a busy and productive week, regarding exhibition, its all systems go for Temple bar Information centre, once again digial Beginers will sponsor , had some positive talks, phone calls etc . expecting write up in the Dubliner magazine , and have once again culled down the collection to 15 images after consultation with various in-the -know people

The space is relativly small (one wall) l, so 15 images should be fine

see you on Feb 28 at 7:30

ok final change (i hope ) , i'm still going for 15 , but more a black and white theme , the Liberty House gang is gone .

There will be 2 walls, one small one where the 2 potraits will hang , and a main wall where the other 13 will go , there is a flow to these 13 , maybe its visible
