    Heya guys.
Wonder is anyone can help me. I am going over to Paris for the weekend with a few mates and I am wondering idf there are any late bars or nightclubs around the montparnasse area? I know Paris is not a beering nation but we have no choice but to spend Fri and Sat night there so might as well make the most of it! Or if ya know of anything cool to do around the greater Paris area on a weekend night let me know.

    Thanks in advance

Montparnasse is alive at night. Its within walking distance of the eiffle tower,.

There are about a dozen cinemas there and there are depending on the day of the week, a good few late bars.

There are some "dodgy" side street clubs there too if you walk off the main streets there, but its one of the more lively places in Paris.

Be careful in paris if you are female and particularly alone, i know quite a few women that have had difficulties on the streets late.

Im sorry i cant assist you with club or pub names as i never look out for the names :D

Booze aint cheap there either IMO

so ya reckon the montparnasse will be good fun on Saturday night so? We are not really tied to that area though. Is there a particular area you would recommend in the greater Paris area?

Ive been to Paris only twice and tbh on both occasions they were of a sight seeing nature. Last time was in September, was the final leg of a 3 week 10,000 Km stroll around europe.

Paris is HUGE! You can get on the underground and after a half hour still be underneth Paris. Id stay pretty central.

for one of those nights go to the bastille. there are loads of bars and clubs around there and it is very lively and good craic. Get the pariscope to see what's on in the many different clubs around.

Actually that's not a lot really. Dublin is a larger city than Paris :)

OP, Montparnasse is an OK area. Lots of bars and places to eat (no idea about clubs) but it wouldn't be considered one of the hot-spots of town. I can easily see you staying in the area and having a good time but if you do want to travel a little, you can take Metro line 4 north for about 5 minutes to the Latin area (LOTS of small bars) or 7 minutes to the centre of town (more Irish pubs, red-light district). €1.50 for a one-way metro ticket. €6 for a city-wide day pass.

Lots of French-style bars/cafes close at 10pm on weekend nights.
    French 'pubs' open until 2am
Irish pubs open until at least 2am with lots open until 5am Fri/Sat nights.

A pint will set you back €6.50 in an Irish/English/Scottish bar. Basically anywhere that has a Guinness sign hanging in it.
A pint will set you back €4 in a French bar.

Best to look for French places that aim for a younger crowd that do happy-hours (usually half price from 6ish to 9ish). There is a region called oberkampf in Paris that has a LOT of bars and plenty clubs that also sell some of the cheapest beer in town but unless you're going to drinking gallons of the stuff, I wouldn't recommend you basing your trip on the cheapest places to drink :)

As the price is set by the bar, the better the place looks or more popular it is, the more you pay to drink there.

A nightclub in Paris (and for that matter a lot of Europe) is not like a disco in Ireland. People go to clubs to dance, not to drink. Clubs are sorted by the style of music they play so you choose your location based on what you're into really.

One of the biggest clubs is at Montparnasse, right under the big tower. Check out their site here http://www.mixclub.fr/

€15 to get in and about €5 a drink. These are typical prices. But as I said, if for you a nightclub is the place you go to so you can continue drinking then in Paris there's no need. You just head to a late-nite or even 24-hour bar.

This site lists the best clubs in town and gives you info on music and prices (in French).
