    See http://www.efergy.com/en/

This product is available in Ireland.
It takes 30 seconds to fit and will monitor you electricity usage immediately and give detailed analysis of usage by the day/week/month.

It would seem a great product (especially for those of us with children).
...it could become obsessive ... e.g. turning off every minor appliance to reduce consumption.

    Any views?

It is fairly reasonable in price but if you don't need the wireless part then Lidl sell meters from time to time for about a 1/4 of that price which do the same thing.
I have one and move it about the house checking what appliances use.

    I am confused??

If you are moving the device around then what do you connect it to?
(I thought it needed to be connected to a point where the mains enters the house. The display unit is portable but the other piece must be fixed??)

    Am I missing something?

The lidl meter looks like a digital timer.
It plugs into the wall socket and the appliance plugs into the meter.

He he...! It's a 'real time' monitor but only updates every 6 seconds!
I don't see much benefit over the Maplin plug-in monitor.

Yea, ive heard of this product. I think any product that can help monitor energy consumption is a good idea.

I am certain people here in Ireland are becomming increasingly energy aware particularly in the last 18 months
