We (by we I mean comedysoc) will have stands in teh arts and hamilton the week before the gig - tickets will be on sale then.

There'll be signs up for it.

First I've heard of this. Am I right in saying this is only the 3rd comedy soc event this year after Jason Bryne and DOD?

    No you are not.

The andrew maxwell gig is on the 6th of february so our pr machine is yet to swing into action. It was however mentioned in our members email (which you may subscribe to if you want) and was also the cover story for the Ents magazine.

These are the two biggest events so far but there have been a few others as well. We did unfortunately have a cancellation by a big comedian in the last fortnight of last term but that show has been re-scheduled. This term we have 27 events scheduled so far. If you want any other information you can pm me or email us at comedy@csc.tcd.ie

You may have seen signs for our comedy improv workshop, which is currently running.

That wasn't funny. Comedy soc related posts should be funny. Or at least contain a joke to show that you tried to be funny.

For example, this post. Here follows a weather appropriate joke:

Why does Snoop Dogg carry an umbrella?

    Fo' drizzle.

Ah. So you must be one of the fifty or so people who failed to write their e-mail address properly when signing up. It's ok. We all make mistakes. Send an e-mail to comedy@csc.tcd.ie and we'll add your proper e-mail to the list.

Ah the wonders of freshers week sign ups and people subsequently transcribing the lists.

Just send an email to comedy@csc.tcd.ie saying that you're a member etc and one of us (most likely not me) will add your address to the mailing list once we check the list of names.

Seriously guys, Comedy Soc are supposed to make me laugh, you're just not a funny enough committee.

    For shame.

yes, cos im stupid enough to heckle a professional comedian....

a comedian he may be, doesnt mean hes really all that funny tho or that hes not full of sh1t

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭Gileadi

    All talk, no action...

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,315 ✭✭✭Jazzy

yeah, normally when i think an entertainer is sh1t i go down to their house and tell them to their face... cos im all action ya see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭Gileadi

Well dont talk sh!te then maybe

all i said in a pretty tongue in cheek manner was that he is a cr*p comedian. isn't that wat these forums are for? expressing opinion and such?
or did u just get offended cos i called a comedian u may happen to like cr*p and feel like u have to make up for it in some way?

but apparantly i can't think hes cr*p unless i tell him to his face. theres lots of things i think are cr*p... like eamonn dunphy or phoebe from friends but im hardly going to better down their dorrs to tell them that now am i ?

I'm with Jazzy on this. Is someone somehow a coward because he criticises someone or their actions anonymously but doesn't feel it worth the effort to criticise them in person?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭Gileadi

Im not saying hes a coward for not wanting to tell him in person, i personally dont like alot of comedians and wouldnt say it to their faces. After all im sure even as crap as we may think they are, they can probably rip the piss out of you 5x faster than you can of them. Differece is i wouldnt go on a public message board saying that i would

Also, my comments were pretty tounge in cheek :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Tickets are 6 euro for members and 8 for non-members, and all proceeds go to support the Volunteer Tuition Programme.

On Monday next (or possibly tuesday - i'll update on here before the start of next week) we'll be selling tickets for Andrew Maxwell - price TBC - keep an eye out for the posters :)
