Broken hinge on a DS lite

    Have many people here suffered this cruel fate!? The same as the picture in my sig below. Did nintendo sort you out with a new one?

    The reason i'm asking is because i bought one with a cracked hinge to replace the case, but being as impatient as i am while i was waiting for the case i tried to super glue the hinge, and to my suprise it worked really well! Its a month on and its still holding up strong!

    The reason i (or the previous owner) couldn't try send it back back to the big N was because it was flashed.

    Anyone else in a similar boat?

    currently on DS number 4 in one year,
    bought 2 last dec one (white)smashed on floor breaking hinge glue lasted approx 3 months, bought a replacement myself,,other one (black)the right arrow key went was replaced by shop under warranty, second white one has shaky hinge already 4 months old, second black one is ok bought armor for them both this time and in fairness they are use everyday by kids

    Did you try get the original white one replaced? when you glued it did you open it up first? Because the person i bought mine off tried to glue it and it didn't last all. To do it right i reckon you need to open it. Thats fairly unfortunate!! My brothers and sisters go through phat cases as if there disposable gloves!!

    My DS Lite was purchased in the States last September. I recently noticed a really bad crack on the right hinge. I'm in Dublin and got a pain trying to contact Nintendo UK - they have no queing system for support calls! :eek: I got through to Nintendo America no problem - the first guy I dealt with said it was my fault even after I stressed I'd read a lot on the web about DS Lite hinge problems. I think the Ireland connection confused him and he just wasn't bothered.

    Not happy with this I called back hours later and got a really helpful woman who said she's look after it as long as the console was shipped from The States and back to The States. I was issued with a Repair Order # last night and was emailed a post paid FedEx label. The console goes pack to NYC tomorrow with a mate so hope all goes well!

    yeah pink one one of the kids have broke two months after getting, sent it back to the UK got replacement pink one and it broke end of november so just sent it off again to the UK and asked them to replace it with either a silver or white one this time as no faith in the quality of the plastic used in the pink ones, I've argued the fact that its a design/materials error but they won't admit it, even after pointing out all the forums with people having this issue. You would have thought Nintendo would have sorted this issue out and improved the design but I suppose unless they get it on a large scale like the 360 they are not going to do anything.

    Just on the comms with Nintendo I used phone the first time (took nearly an hour to get talking to someone, and not cheap ringing the UK during the day) and on the second I went with email which was pretty quick, just make sure to copy yourself and use the receipt button when they read it and I got response with RMA back within 24 hours.
