    Hi guys

apologies if this may seem dumb, but I'm looking to update the family computer.
Its a dell dimension 5000 series. P4 Processor and 256MB ram
I'm thinking of increasing the Ram and mabey adding a small graphics card.

Its a bit confusing looking at the choices on offer.
With regard to the RAM how can i tell what kind I have/need
most seem to be "DDR" but then there is pc4300/pc5300 etc
Also, how do I tell that type of graphics card it can take?
It has some sort of intel accelerator/chipset thing but no dedicated card.

I checked device manager but I'm no expert so I couldnt tell

any assistance would be great, thanks!

Crucial have a handy memory configurator.
Here's what it says your system can take:

To find out the tech specs for you dell, go to www.dell.ie, and head into the support section. You'll see a link for system manuals on the left. If you follow the links you eventually see the specs of the 5000.

From my reading of the manual you have a PCI Express graphics card slot so you need to look at PCI Express graphics cards if you want to upgrade that.

In terms of memory, most RAM webshops have an online tool that will tell you what you need. Www.memoryc.com in this case shows this is the RAM available
