Looking for an old-stlye pub for wedding reception

    Hi there

I'm getting married in April and have not yet booked a reception. We are not doing any speeches or anything like that,so I'm looking to have an old-school Irish traditional reception with singers, dancers and trad music. So can anyone recommend a small "old mans pub" that has a late night license? Our wedding is on a Tuesday night so hopefully the venue will be grateful for the business.
Does anyone have any favourite pubs they'd be willing the share with me that might suit?

    Thanks!

yeah i thought that, but its too far out,and too touristy. And its freakin expensive.
I'm looking for something within the city.Ideally somewhere we could all walk to.

The Anglers Rest by a mile, I shot there and loved it, for a christening mind but as soon as I saw it laid out I could only imagine how stunning it would be for a wedding

This is the upstairs laid out and downstairs is quite old style.

ok, it might sound a bit funny but I've been to a few functions at Scruffy Murphy's - it's off Mount Street and I really really liked it. They've got an upstairs function room that is free and is set up like a pub with a bar and chairs and tables as well as a grand piano, dance floor area and a big screen for photos and things. I always found the staff to be really good. Not sure if it's fancy enough for you or not - it is quite pub-by, if you know what I mean!

I quite like Sweeney's in Kilbride, Co. Meath. There is a church nearby so they cater to a lot of weddings

Hi... I am wondering did any of you follow through on the above mentioned venues, and if not why?

Me and my fiancée are looking to find a venue for next year (august) and are begenning the process.

There's nothing like a recommendation from somebody who was there :)

I have gigged all of the above places, and would recommend The Anglers rest by a mile. Band is The Beat Detectives.

    kc:)
