Moved into a house with the missus and while she was renting in a previous house she had sky. I know the installer so he advised that I sign up as a new customer to receive a better deal and to cancel the other sky subscription.

There lies the problem. She rang up to cancel her subscription and the sky agent asked her for a password! She told them she didnt know and she got on the guy who installed Sky for her and he didnt remember it. I was with her when she filled out her original sky form and she was not asked for one then nor when she rang them to confirm a few details did they ask her for a password.

Any ideas where we can go from here?

get her to tell sky she is leaving the country and to cancel the account immediatley.
then you sign up at new address and pay using a different acount/credit card.

i never remember the password and just tell them that. it has never been a problem.

also bring your old sky box from the previous place and get the installer to install an extra line (for a few quid) to a different room and hook up the old box also.
