After about 4 weeks of 7 missed appointments I eventually took delivery of my UPC dvr - delighted with the product. However just when I had gotten over the terrible customer service I had another bad experience with them today.

I wanted to order a second DVR box, but was told the there is a limit of 1 per house - apparently its only possible to connect one DVR per house - does this make any sense?????

I was also told that I couldn't have a second connection to support a second DVR machine - does this make any sense????

Has anyone got suggestions on how to get around this problem??

    This company drives me CRAZY!

    Thanks.

    Hi,
Why do you want second one?
To record another channel same time? if the UPC dvr has dual tuners it can output a channel other than the one you record, can you record this?

I would think it is due to limited supply. I'm sure once they've been around a while they will get rid of this.

Its not so that I can record more, just want the option of looking at different programmes in another room.... saves domestic rows:)

You could always go for the standard box.

OK looks like I'm being the weird one .... the point is .... when people with vastly different tv tastes share a house ... and they spend a lot of time out ... they end up wanting to record very different programmes ... and then want to watch these very different programme at the same time ... hence it doesn't save the rows!!!!! 2 DVR boxes = tv nirvana + fewer tv related rows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Yep, I had the same conversation with UPC. It is only a supply issue, they are oversubscribed and simply do not have enough boxes, so the Customer Service people and installers are told one box per subscription, for the moment I assume!

Before I had one, I would never have understood why you would want one, but now I need two, as there are four of us. Though we will need to set recording on both or there will still be rows...
