So which is better? Teflon or White Lithium? Managed to get some Teflon grease in Halfords in the bike section. Does anybody know where you could source White Lithium grease locally?

I got some White Lithium Grease in my local hardware store - Its specifically designed for metal on metal. Be careful with it, most white lithium greases are petrolium based, which, in theory, will degrade rubber. I have researched it a fair bit though, a lot of people use it in their gearboxes, including the piston, and I haven't come accross anyone with a damaged/degraded seal because of it. Just to be on the safe side though I only use it on the gears, I keep it well away from the o-rings, piston etc.

go for LM grease for the gears, its great stuff, if you need to use it on stuff where it could come into contact with rubber then go for Silicone grease (as oposed to oil), it'll be either white or clear and you can get it in most motor factors in a large tub for about 4squid.,

i picked up a tub of moly grease in the motor factors there a while back, nice big tub (500g) for about €6-7, manufacturer is "carlube", it's a lithium based grease with molybdenum disulphide added

only tried it on one gearbox so far but it seems like fairly decent stuff

yeah i have that stuff too, the LM stuff i have is the same brand and same container etc and they do the silicone grease too, anywhere that sells one usually sells the rest.,:),.

Does anyone have experience with teflon grease?

got a small tub of it from ehobbyasia a while back, its still pretty much full, i've barely used it, works well on gears but i find it a little bit sticky for my liking. I'd recommend it for anyone that doesnt want to be opening their gearbox very often for re-greasing, moly being a lighter grease will need re-application more often

Good stuff, might stick to the Teflon grease then, planning a big overhaul on the AUG
