Some good games out on Friday this week.... what do people have their eye on?

Zack and Wiki Quest for Barbaros Treasure
    Ghost Squad
    Geometry Wars
    NiGHTS

Zack and Wiki is a definite. Ghost Squad was $30 in the States - if its a budget release here too, it might be worth picking up (I hear its great fun in co-op, and there is lots to unlock). Not sure about NiGHTS, I'm hearing mixed things about it. And Geometry Wars might be more suited as a Wiiware title than a full price game....

After reading up on Zack and Wiki and watching a few videos... i might have to stretch for it. Looks amazing.

Might pick up geometry wars, the EG review makes it sound worth the money...
Not too sure about the other three though, maybe a couple of months down the line...

Zack and Wiki looks good, and I always like to support the underdog.
But I have heard it is quite short so I may wait til the price drops a little.

I've heard 15 hours mentioned a few times... that sounds just perfect to me.

Oh 15 hours is good. I could've sworn I read a few reviews saying that there was only a small number of puzzles, and once they were done the game was done. But 15 hours is more than reasonable.

Nope, the game has over 20 levels, some will take more than an hour to finish.
Every level is scored and there are secret treasures too, so it has replay value.
At least 15 hours of gameplay on first playthrough.

I wants me some ghost squad. Give the zapper a workout :)

Speaking of Ghost Squad, its available really cheap given the current good sterling rates.

    http://www.asda-entertainment.co.uk/asda/9951176.product

£23.93 there, with free delivery. At today's rate that comes out at €31.75 :) Since Asda don't price stuff in euros you can't get screwed by them having a crap rate like play do. Ordered Forza 2 for the 360 off them last week for about £14.

Kewl will be purchasing a copy at some point then.
Although have too many other games to finish at the moment, so will hold off for a little while. Looking foward to it though. Good to see a game built specifically for the Wii without some tacked on controls. Very few of them around, alas.

Yeah, Zack and Wiki is top of my list this Friday, although when I asked Gamestop (ugh) about it before Xmas, they'd never even heard of the game, it wasn't in any of their lists or anything. I guess Game will be getting my "hard" "earned" cash again this month.

Is Geometry Wars a rehash of the Xbox Live game? I dl'd that just after I got my 360 and played it once. It might work better with the Wiimote - it's not a zapper game is it?

Geometry wars is a worthy update of the 360 one. Rather than one continuous level, its divided into 60 smaller levels. You're given a medal for a score on each level (bronze, silver, gold, platinum), and you pick up geoms as currency for unlocking new levels. Different dynamic to the original 360 one, and better I think.

I was in Gamestop today, and they have prices up for the following:

    NiGHTS: €60
    Zak and Wiki: €50
    Ghost Squad: €45

Z&W is €50 in Smyths site too (according to their site), you'd get 10% off with the loyalty card though.

I think I'll just get Z&W tomorrow. Eurogamer's review of GS says you'll finish it in a half an hour (!).... It'll be on the second hand shelves and bargain bins in no time....

Ghost Squad is an arcade shooter, of course you'll finish it in under an hour!
