A job was advertised on irishjobs.ie that i was interested in. I contacted the recruitment agency and left a message to get back to me. They hadn't contacted me by close of business. The next day, the same job was advertised with another agency. I contacted the second agency, spoke to someone and emailed my CV. Deciding to hedge my bets and because i have no loyalty to either, I emailed my CV to the first agency also. Now both have contacted me to meet up.

What do i do - meet both or go with one? Last year I had interviews with 5 recruitment agencies and the majority of them were useless - just felt i had wasted my time. Anyone had experience of this?

To meet up with the agency or a proper interview with the client? It it's only a meeting with the agency then you are safe. Otherwise the client will probably ignore your application.

It will be a meeting with the agency, i'd imagine. Don't think they would submit my CV to the client without checking me out first. I suppose agencies are all the same and which ever one i meet first, let them go ahead and submit it to the client if they think i am suitable.

Companies usually advertise their vacancies with several job agencies. Most likely you will meet with the agency and they will probably ask you if you have been in contact with other agencies. This is just to prevent doubling up of applications.

Meet with both you never know one of them maybe able to get you a better offer. Plus they might have something else on their books that you would be interested in you.

If however they both turn out to be useless then tell them that you feel you would be better off with another agency. Then watch them scramble to keep you! I did this last year and they were suddenly able to produce better jobs that I was more interested in.

If you one of the agencies does submit your CV to their client then dont let the second one do the same. The company will reject the second application as they already have your CV and the recruiment agency will look like idiots.

why not stick with one who bothered their arse to come back to you?? would seem fair

The one that came back to me decided I wasn't suited to the job - fair enough although IMO i ticked a lot of the boxes and had the feeling she was getting her job specs mixed up. Said she'd be back to me - ya-de-ya. The second one did call and I am meeting them tomorrow. I could also write the script for these scenarios at this stage.

I HATE dealing with agencies - stone wall useless.

    Or maybe it's me?

some agencies can be useless to be honest but others actually know what they are doing.

i can give you the name of 2 agencies o have dealt with if you would like?

    Kittensoft...

I wouldn't mind the names of those two decent agencies if you don't mind passing them on! Thanks!
