komplett.ie, Dabs.ie, Both pretty easy to buy from. Komplett are who I use.

A little off topic given how specific your request was but for someone who wasn't as clear on their preferred model the Ibood of the day is a 22" monitor and its €200 (plus €12.50 postage)

I've no idea how good bad or indifferent the specific monitor is. Pixmania has other brands at similar prices.

Throughout January 2008 PC World stores are selling the 22" Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW for €320. AFAIK It's the replacement for the 226BW model.

It can be bought cheaper online - but €320 is pretty decent for a bricks and mortar store.

thanks lads. I researched that the samsung sm226bw is the one to get. can get it off pixamania with dvi cable for around 320e. Is that replacement one the sm223bw (or whatever it is that pc world have an offer on) better than the 226bw version?

Difficult to say really - see here.

Besides the generally favourable reviews, I went for this monitor because the price was decent enough and I could easily return it in case of problems.

If you're buying online anyway be sure to consider the Dell monitors as they have a good reputation for more accurate colour reproduction and viewing angles, which makes them better suited to watching video and doing graphical work. The Samsungs usually win on response time, having less ghosting issues, which makes them slightly better for gaming.

I read that article before, so I bought the Iiyama from Dabs.ie, very happy with it.

You can also get them in Dublin for collection (i.e. no postage) here --> http://www.dimension4.ie/proddet.asp?pid=S4785983&ccode=1413405 but they were out of stock when I wanted mine

Don't waste time elsewhere - or try ebay for second hand.

As an update - I'm not entirely sure that I'm going to keep the 2232BW monitor. Don't know if I can live with the banding issues - might sacrifice response time for an increase in bit depth. The Samsung has 6-bit colour depth, ideally I'd like an 8-bit one.
