    Hi all,

I'm looking for any advice on buying an antique engagement ring. My fiance and I have found one we like in an antique shop in the centre of Dublin. However, it is not cheap and as complete antique novices, we have no idea if we would be paying too much money or if it is reasonable value. Has anyone any tips or advice for things we should look out for/be aware of in this situation?

    Many thanks

    where to start? :)

the short answer is this: is she loves it, and you can afford it without putting yourself into debt, then go for it.

value is a relative concept. is the shop well-known? are the reputable? no shop will risk it's reputation selling rubbish, but that's if they have a rep to begin with!
