Just thought I'd start a clarinet thread, as I couldn't find one.
I just bought my 1st clarinet ( a buffet ) and I want to buy a nice mouthpiece. Was thinking Vandoren but not sure now.
Any Ideas? And what clarinet do YOU have???

    A rusty clarinet.

Vandoren are reputable brand so I'd imagine it would be a decent enough mouthpiece to have. Be sure you get a suitable reed though. It's years since I played clarinet but I do remember that tougher/stiffer reeds were much harder to play.

    I've an old Selmar clarinet.

Don't currently have a clarinet, but I used to have a Pruefer Silver Throat.

Vandorens are good mouthpieces....they also make excellent reeds.

Stiffer reeds are for when you have built up your embrochure. Just like guitar strings, the more heavy-duty they are, the better tone you get and the longer they last.

For reeds I generally try get Rico Grand Concert or Gonzalez. Is there any mouthpiece that people would rate better than a Vandoren? And Ligatures- Recommendations?

If its classical music your playing I'd definitely stick with Vandoren mouthpiece.

A Vandoren has a nice velvety sound more so than the Rico I find. I have a Yamaha :D
