    Hey,

I'm wondering if there's anywhere in ireland (or any online store that isn't ebay) to buy off-camera radio triggers, preferably the dirt-cheap Cactus ones, as they can be had at and modified and I'm only just messing around at this stage and will likely get pocketwizards after the 70-200.

Yeah, I know all those stores, it's a pity elara etc don't carry them, as it'd be so handy with a laser/maestro card :S. That's my main thing, credit card is a bit iffy at the mo :)

We have recently bought three of them, me and two other fellas. And it was worth to spread the shipment costs among three people.
Just ask if somebody wants it too and make a shared order :-)

ugh, I may just go sort my card out this week to hell :D. I've enough probably in my savings jar, but the last time I checked, you cant' use 'weight of savings jar' as a viable method of payment.

I'm quite shocked that Maplin (I work there, I should make a fuss!! :D) or Peats don't carry at least hotshoe based stuff...I made a suggestion to a guy a 7dayshop.com to get them, so at least we'd have a european base for them and it looks as they're in the process of doing so

Try DML in Portobello perhaps. If anyone is going to do radio triggers it wil be them I'd guess. I have pocket wizards (totally reliable!) and got them from ebay of a private seller, not a shop. They work perfectly . I then got a 2nd receiver from B&H when a friend was coming home from the states.
It's definitly worth saving for the pocket wizards. A friend of mine got some Bowens transmitters but ended up selling them as everyone else seemed to be using pocket wizards which meant he could borrow more receivers if he needed them rather than trying to source a Bowens one to borrow.

I got 3 recs and a trigger for 50 quid! Had them within a week too! How slow was your shipping?

AFAIR my friend paid quite a bit for the Bowens triggers($275 a pair in B&H). They are more for studio work I think as the setting have 5 channels (PW's have 4) and then another setting for Studio's (like sub channels I guess?).

shipping was around three weeks. was around the xmas too so maybe that had a factor in the slowness.

when you say '3 recs and a trigger' - is that cactus or something else ? I bought from gadgetinfinity so presume I paid the best price possible. not that I care. 25 each hardly breaks the bank
