    Hi All,

Looking for a bit of advice if any going please? I was looking at an external media drive like a freecom, storex or Kiss- which also has a dvd player.
    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/678948...i-dvd-div.html or http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/456033...layer-tvi.html
These type of machines are exactly what i am looking for. It is to be attached to a 40" LCD and its primary purpose is for playing downloaded content like xvid movies. However, I would love to have a machine as samll and tidy as these but which will give me the ability to browse the Internet aswell. Anyone know of a machine without having to go down the road of a mini pc (too expensive) or Dell PC (just too untidy looking on the shelf). Can i alter these type of machines maybe!!

    Any help would be appreciated!!

PS3 or an xbox 360 both now play xvid and divx .. although not all (updateable tho)
PS3 has a built in browser
    PS3 plays blue ray
    Both have DVD playback
Both accept usb connections to large fat32 external hds for content
PS3/xbox360 elite plays HD thru hdmi/component/composite
bonus - they will also stream content over a network from a media center enabled PC if you wanted

    €400 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=341572
    €278 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=341231

they also play games ( I think ??)

Choice .. for media playback .. looks like blue ray has won .. buy a PS3

Yes I was looking at the PS3 option. However, how easy is it to play back Avi, XVid and DIVX files on a PS3
Is there some sort of modding that needs to be done and if so how easy is it? Also how easy is it to browse the web on a PS£, can you get a wireless keyboard for them?

    Thanks for the advice,

no mod, you just have to update to the latest firmware which it automatically does when you connect to the internet.

theres a inbuilt browser .. which works with your joypad, a usb wireless keyboard, a usb wireless keyboard and a bluetooth wireless keyboard .. which I'm sure you can find if you do some googling. Note if you like linux you can also install some distros on it .. like yellowdog .. which also have their own browsers.
