Panasonic Lumix LX2 Problem

I took out my Lumix earlier to take a couple of photos. Haven't used it in 3 or 4 months. Anyway, it has decided that it doesn't want to work any more. It looks like the sensor doesn't work - any pictures I take are completely black and the lcd doesn't show the scene in front of it. So, before I throw it in the bin, does anyone have any ideas?

if you're serious about binning it ill take it.I fixed a camcorder before with water damage would love to try this :D

I supose take out bat and mem card etc other than that it would be taking it apart and messing with wires etc
    Good luck!!

Thing is, it hasn't been water damaged. It's been sitting in it's carry case on the shelf since the last time I used it. Battery and mem card were removed. LCD will show any photos on the card and the camera will create files. Strange thing I've just noticed - I formatted the internal memory but if I try to take a picture, it tells me it's still full...

Edit: nevermind, it just decided to write a file to the internal memory. It's still blank though.

Set it to auto.Hold it up to a light and see if anything appears on screen.Any reset button you can press?Or a master reset on the cam it sounds orkward to fix.If this your main cam?Because if it isnt take it apart look fir any ribbon leads(dont think thats the technical name)and take them out and put them back in that might work.

Already reset everything I could to factory, checked it against a light - doesn't show anything. No reset button that I can find or find referenced. It's my better camera but I may just have to open it.

Yeah id say so.Not to hard to do though. But i remeber some compacts have the sensor in a plastic case....Might sound stupid but hold it in your hand and shake it up and down and left to right.Could be a loose connection and this might reconnect it :p

Well, it gives me something to distract me from studying I guess :p I'll open it tomorrow. Hopefully it's just something really obvious. Can't really afford a new camera right now.

Ooo, hate that, and those arnt cheap either for a campact. I love mine and it goes everywhere with me,

On another note, if ya dont get it working id give ya a few quid for the battery and particularly the lenscap off it mate, i lost mine and cant find another one anywhere., :(

I'll see. Considering I didn't pay for it, it's not a huge loss although I have become quite attached to it.

It's out of warranty I guess?

Post up an image on here and we'll check the exif information for you (don't modify the file before uploading).
