Does Brian O'Driscoll smoke? I was driving today and listened to most of the match on the radio, however I pulled into a pub for some lunch and saw a bit of the second half and I noticed that Brian seemed to have difficulty breathing at times, I looked att he other players and they didn't seem to have been as bad.

I thought it was because he is unfit (unlikely) or else he smokes.

now, to be honest, if you're truly fit, and you smoke, it has little impact on your breathing at all. If you're around the level that you should be for international rugby, then it should make zero difference.

e.g. Zidane smoked. never made a difference.

I saw three of Ireland's finest outside a well known Dublin pub last year enjoying their smokes. They was a first choice wing, prop and No. 8!

I was just caught about 5minutes of the highlights of Liverpool today, the sound wasn't on and the TV was at a bad angle, but I'm almost certain if Steven Gerrard wore different shaped studs he'd be able to score from corner flag...

    I mean wtf!

The armchair opinions here are getting absolutely fcuking ridiculous at this stage.

BOD isn't the fastst and sometimes has to catch his breath if he's chasing a ball or a player. 2 years ago he even got sick after running in a try from 60 yards out.

So before someone comments do they either have seen all the match or do they have to be actually at the match? With people like you they'd be no need for discussion fora because comment would be ridiculed.

I saw what I saw and I still think he looked to be uncomfortable as he gasped for breath.

He was actually ill for a day or two before that game iirc.

You're talking about the Bourgoigne match in LR, where he scored three tries?

    Nothing to do with smoking.

As for being out of breath yesterday, it was his first game for a while.

I think it was last year, against Agen in LR. He had a virus that week, and probably shouldn't of played.

I guess sprinting against CauCau didn't help either...

In any game of rugby, after a number of phases, you will see most players gasping, its the nature of the game. With regards to being a better player if he didn't smoke I think that is complete rubbish, any flaws in his game of late or his dips in form have had nothing to do with lack of cardiovascular fitness, which is the only aspect smoking would negatively affect. A few people on here just love to take swipes at Drico whenever they can.....

yeah he does smoke, the lads call him 40-a-day,although i doubt he smokes that much, rugby isnt like football.in rugby you can smoke,in football they go balistic and you would lose alot of money, its up to bod if he wants to smoke, who is anyone here to judge that an international rugby player shouldnt be smoking

Well he is back................just stands there really ^^ Forwards is the worse place for a smoker
