hey, basically ive had quite bad acne for the last couple of years and have tried a range of prescription and over the counter products, but to no avail.

people have recommended roaccutaine but of course ive heard about all the side effects. My main concern is alcohol, im a college student so drinking is a part of life and i do enjoy going out and having a few. Can i drink while on this drug? if so will i be able to handle the same limits of alcohol as previously? Can anyone help me here or perhaps reccomend another drug which suits my lifestyle? cheers

    Hi,

I was on Roaccutane for 6 months when I was fourteen. It was one of the best things that ever happen to me. I didn't experience any side effects bar skin dryness and extra sensitivity to sunlight. Those seem to be part of the package though. I went on a series of different medications before taking Roaccutane. They all improved my condition but Roaccutane cleared it completely. I haven't been taking anything since and besides the odd spot, my skin is perfect. I don't know much about acne and alcohol as I was a bit young for drink at the time... It could be worth sacrificing your lifestyle for a few months. I suppose it depends how important your skin is to you. The only thing is that the longer you leave it, the worse the scaring will be.

You're more concerned with getting drunk than with clearing up your skin?

Why don't you arrange to start taking it during the summer holidays, chances are you may only need to be on it a few months.

It's a really bad idea to drink while taking this medication. Do some research on the drug before you take it!
