    Hi all
Just wondering is there a produst out there that I could put all my dvd s on to like an external hard drive but be able to hook it up to my tv?

In the event i get into trouble, all the dvd s I have were legally bought and I do not suggest to anyone to copy or back up dvd they do not own or will suggest how to do so.

    A quick search at peats:
    Iomega Multimedia Harddrive 500gb

There are some others though, and cheaper than that too

Got one in PC World 3 days ago for 199.
i think it is a great piece of kit.
It can play almost any type of media.
With 500gigs it has plenty of storage.
The included remote is small so could get lost easily but it works perfectly.
A mate has a Packard Bell Store and Play 3500 but the Iomega is in a different class.
The only problem with it is it does not recognize Mpeg4 files encoded with Nero 8.However all Divx etc files play without problems.
There are lots of connections on the rear of it including scart.I have connected it to all the tv's in the house and it played perfectly on them all.
Good setup menu to suit your personal tastes.
I am by no means an expert but I have to say it does what it says on the tin.

Is there any way you can get a web browser on these drives and use for browsing the internet aswell?

You can fix the mpeg4 file problem by updating the firmware.

Unfortunately Iomega are too lazy to update their own firmware but there are other versions you can use, follow the link to find out how to do it. Read the full first page and you'll be on your way.

    Thanks Keeper for the link.
This model the Screenplay 500 cannot have it's firmware updated although other Iomega drives can.
I agree with you that Iomega have a terrible support service judging by the posts on their support forum.Although I am very happy with the 500 and have had no problems with it the lack of Mpeg 4 support is a let down.I will be buying another drive soon but will probably look elsewhere because of the lack of support from Iomega.

Sorry to hijack the thread there guys but i've been looking for something similar myself. I'm very suspicious of them... I don't know why! Possibly they seem too good to be true.

has anyone any other experiences with these products and does anyone know if any have hdmi connections? Also besides hdmi, what's the best quality connection for video quality?

i have loads of old dvds that i want to back up as they seem so fragile, these drives appear to be the solution!
