I've been giving some thought to buying a DS, can anyone recommend some good games, just picking up the boxes in game doesn't really give a good idea of whether it's kick ass or crap. Is there any good super mario games out for it, I remember playing it on gameboy or maybe it was a nintendo 64, jumping up and down on boxes and turtles and collecting stars, it was good fun.

New super mario Bros. is excellent and well worth picking up. Super mario 64 DS is decent but the crappy controls means it's best left to the N64.

I highly, highly recommend Elite Beat Agents as the best game DS game around, only bettered by it's japanese semi prequel Osu! Takate! Ouendan!

Lego Star wars the complete saga is great fun. Don't get the one from last year though that was rubbish.

A good list of the top DS games is on the right hand side of this screen, under "All Time High Scores"

Some of the games I've really enjoyed on the DS:

Zelda - Phantom Hour Glass (Great fun, with some real innovative gameplay use of ds)
Advance Wars - Dual Strike (sucks hours at a time out of you, prefect for ds)
    Castlevania - Dawn of Sorrow
    Elite Beat Agents
Geometry Wars (Fun old school arcade fun)
    Mario Kart DS
    Puzzle Quest (very addictive)
    Tetris DS
Bleach - Blade of Fate (real good fighter)

    SEconded. Advance wars is Great.
And the new super Mario is a great mario game with some Awesome Mini Games to while away the hours.

I just finished the Hotel Dusk game the other day, found it really good detective type game. Controls were very easy. I also have some sims game where i get tasks to do, it baffles me and the noises that people make in it is really annoying. So go for Hotel Dusk (although i had to get a lil help from online walkthroughs :o )

Trying to pick out a good game now and looking through that list posted up.

Elite beat agents is great fun too
    Mario World
    Mario Kart
    Brain Age 1 & 2
    Big Brain Acaemy
    Bomberman!!!!!

Debatable. I enjoyed EBA more purely cos I could understand the stories more fully. I preferred the music on OTO more though.

TBH I thought this game was terrible as I'd played the XBox version first. You really can't control the ship as easy as the Xbox Analogue Sticks, and being left handed means you use the right side for your up/down/left/right movements.. Which is not what left handers are used to (we're used to conforming to right handed controls.... eg. Left hand for movement). This game also doesn't have very much lastability on the DS.

These are really good games.. As long as you are talking about the original bomberman, not the Bomberman: Zero crap

For anyone who liked Elite Beat Agents... I recommend trying Taiko No Tatsujin.... It's in Japanese, (maybe there's an english ver?) but you'll get to the main game... Basically it's a drum rhythm game.. You get 2 little styluses in your hand and drum on the screen... it's great :D

    Bomberman Zero was for 360.

Talking of Taiko no Tatsujin, I imported and enjoyed immensly Nodame Cantible -- a rhythm-action game, but very relaxing, with classical music.

Play-Asia have it for a hair over a tenner -- GO GO GO!!

Super Mario 64 is great, almost as good as the N64 version IMO.

Try one of the Phoenix Wright games also. Really good with witty dialogue and good pacing...

Yes the original bomberman, like the one from the snes, I love playing it, dying for my bro to get it so we can do a 2 player!

I was never good at mario 64 on the n64, I was super at mario world on the snes but I couldnt convert over, so I'm guessing I wouldnt be good at it on the ds either :(

I've played 1 and 2, I found Hotel Dusk better though (not that it's a court room thing but similar methods). I just got annoyed when I'd object to something knowing there was a contradiction but he wouldn't pipe up and say it (I know I was clearly objecting to the wrong thing but still) :D

I know the music shouldn't matter too much, but the songs are painful on Elite Beat Agents, that Walkie Talkie man is ear splittingly terrible. Avril Lavigne, Madonna, Cher. At least YMCA and the Jackson 5 song are funny. Nothing remotely funny about Ashlee Simpson.
    The idea is great though
