    Hey,

i am looking to recycle my old tv before (or while) i buy a new one.

I was just wondering. Is the store obliged to take my old set and recycle it as part of the recycling fees we pay these days for electronic equipment?

If i can't bring my old set with me at the time of purchase of the new tv what are my other options for recycling it?

    Thanks everyone.

Yes the store you buy a new TV from is obliged to take the old TV. Thats what you pay the WEEE charge on the price for.

If not your local council recycling depot should take it from you for free.

you could always save on landfill & post your old tv (if it's in working order) on a re-use site such as www.wastematchers.com

If you dont have your Tv with you when you buy a new one you can bring it another time with your reciept and they take it

    Hi Folks,

As a slight aside I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions for repurposing or reusing an older CRT TV. I several large(28"-32") CRT TV's sitting in the shed at home as they are all perfectly good working TV's I would like to have them used rather than wasted on recycling. So I was thinking maybe schools or youth centers etc might be interested in them. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Dave
