    Coming Fall 2008.

    60 players online.

    8 player online co-op, 2 player local.

United States is the location, huge locales.

Levels different with each playthrough (partially randomised geometry).

AI is aiming to be much better. More on-screen. More of everything on screen (which if you remember the first game is saying something).

    More shortly!!

Here's the cover, all this is from GameInformer. If there's a problem with scans, I'll edit them out.

There are two seperate full campaigns - one for single player, one for co-op!

Online now has classes, including Heavy, Medic, Special Ops.

New vehicles - one being the Chameleon, a stalker with cloak.

Multiplayer will feature squad vs squad e.g. 8 or 4 man squads, with each squad having their own lobby, and given their own objectives.

Integration with myresistance.net for super fast match making and insane stat tracking. No selectable difficulty online, it will scale automatically so you'll play against people on your level. There's a clan and party system too.

They played it also. End the preview with "Resistance 2 will be too epic to dismiss as anything but one of the biggest, boldest, and most high-reaching titles of 2008. It's a game that won't be ignored"

There's an IGN article here with a bit more info on story and featues: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/845/845049p1.html

Haven't seen any word on new weapons, which were one of the best things about the first game. I'm sure they'll have some good stuff in that department.

Meh, I can't get excited about any FPS after COD4. We got Resistance with our PS3 aswell as COD, but I made the mistake of trying COD first..

    Looks pretty cool.
I found the first one to be surprisingly enjoyable after the mixture of overhyping and negative feedback that I'd heard before playing it.

I must really get around to finishing Resistance. Loads of other games just got in it's way.

You have to bare in mind that it was out well before COD4. While it doesn't have the WOW factor of COD4 it is a good game. I played C0D4 first and then went and played Resistance. I did feel like I was taking a step backward at first but I really got into the game.
The story is entertaining, the amount of enemies on screen is impressive and the range of weapons is good fun.

I'll be looking forward to the sequel.

COD4 is the new benchmark in many respects, but Resistance was out a year before it.

The good news as far as Resistance 2 is concerned is that the developers also think that COD4 sets the bar, and they're looking to surpass it. On paper it sounds like they've a really good chance.

I hope they allow vehicles in multiplayer.

It's good to see that they're working on him becoming an alien and slowly becoming more and more like one.

Randomised level geometry sounds very interesting, I'm curious as to how that will work.

Also curious about the class system and inclusion of medics. If I hear its as good as TF2 (probably unlikely) then I might be tempted to pick it up.

Combined with 8 player co-op I might actually be interested in this. Played halfway through the first game on co-op and it wasn't bad. Outside of co-op it never interested me at all though, just like any of the other millions of FPS games where you shoot aliens over and over.

*prays for all this tech to go into the next Ratchet & Clank game*

The co-op sounds good. 60 players online, not sure what to make of that. I sounds like it would be so crowded that you'd spawn and be dead in seconds unless the maps are huge.

    Grrrr....
Decided to pick up Resistance again today and try to finish it, but keep getting my ass handed to me... I stopped playing at Cheddar Grove, at the part where you get to drive a jeep. Shame that there isn't an option to switch difficulty levels in game, as I can't see myself getting back into it as it is:(

The maps are supposed to be humongous. But also, it's squad orientated. I'm sure there'll be free-for-alls too, but they're focussing on the squad element for larger matches, with different squads having different objectives. So it should keep things more focussed rather than having everyone vs everyone.

Also, the second co-op campaign will be very different to the single player. It uses the multiplayer maps, and it'll tell the story of a group of soldiers that runs parallel to the single player campaign and the story of Hale.

Here's a picture with a caption that has a bit more detail on multiplayer:

Not what people said pre COD4. I thought it played great myself.

Really? Everyone I know who's played did. It was enjoyable enough, but extremely average, with bits that were just a little bit too close to HL2 for comfort.

I certainly won't be disregarding the sequel by any means, just waiting to see what the reviews make of it.

I don't think it's earth shattering or anything, but it was an enjoyable enough game. Online is good.

Well, since reviewers regarded far higher than you seemed to (metacritic score of 86%), I'm not sure why you'd wait for their opinions.

I thought it was underrated, if anything, particularly the multiplayer aspect. It's been surpassed with CoD4, but it took a year.

cod 2 and 3 were BOTH better than resistance in both online and 1p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,682 ✭✭✭LookingFor

I would disagree, and so did a lot of reviewers looking at metacritic (and it also enjoys a higher average user rating there).

Anyway, we could go back and forth with our opinions of Resistance's relative quality forever..probably best to leave this thread for discussion of 2.

Are full scans allowed? Saw them, and there are more screens in there than posted in the OP. The goliaths are
