ok so i have work experience next week in a financial place, {mercer}. so anyway they tell me today that i have to wear "smart clothes, no jeans/tracksuit pants". so now im a bit confused as to what exactly i should wear. they didnt specify anything, only something smart? can anyone help before tomorrow? (when i'd be able to buy something if needed) thanks in advance!

Both my placements require "smart" clothes, i.e., shirt, tie and trousers. They made it quite explicit in their letters though.

I'd say just a shirt, trousers, maybe tie depending... or you might even get away with just trousers and a jumper or cords or something...

I have to dress "smart/casual" for my work experience too.. have no idea what I'll wear!

When I worked in a coffee shop for my work experience they told me exactly the same thing. I wore black trousers and a shirt and that was fine.

I could wear whatever I wanted both times I was work experienced, but I didnt go in a tracksuit or anything, smart/casual I think its called. But I think I was allowed wear what I wanted because the lady I was working for really took a shining to me and was very nice
