i have one. got it for €35 in Game or somewhere. to be honest, i havent noticed any difference.

i went from a 28" widescreen CRT with the default cable to a 42" plasma with the component or whatever with 5 cables. im yet to notice any difference.

An RGB Scart cable or the component cable will give you superior picture quality as the included AV cable is not great. The official ones are about €30 / €35.

I could really notice the difference going from the bundled cable to a component cable on my 32" LCD. But I am fussy about picture quality... :)

Have you gone into the settings menu, then to display and set it to 480p?
It'll still look like total ass on a big tv though, just not as bad as with the bundled cable

Are there any non-Nintendo cables that will give the best quality the Wii can produce without costing €30?

I paid for a HD component cable for my Xbox 360 premium no problem cos it gives a noticeably improved picture, but if the Wii isn't going to give a high-def picture either way I'll only go for a cheapo cable.

The 360 already comes with a component cable:confused:
    Unless you mean HDMI...

The Gameware one is decent enough, I can't tell any difference between that and the official one anyway.

Was hoping DealExtreme would have something that might suit! Reckon I'll give that a go cos as you said, you can't go wrong with that - even if it sucks its only €4.

I got one of the first Xbox360 premiums at launch and can't remember what cable it came with, but the extra one I bought (after advice on here) made a noticeable improvement and it is a component cable, not HDMI.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a must-have. I have components cables for my gamecube and ps2 as well. I have a 32" LCD screen and everything looks so solid and colours pop out. Especially since most (all?) Wii games are prog scan which, when enabled by using component cables, nets about a 50% perceived increase in resolution.
