I'm looking at getting one or maybe two lessons. I've never really had them before so i'm not sure where to go or how much i should be looking to pay. i emailed the GUI Nat. Academy and these are their rates below... is this good or should i look around elsewhere?

Lessons will cost as follows from next Monday (all per hour):
Neil Manchip (GUI National Coach) €110
Francis Howley (Carton House Pro) €100
    David Mortimer €85
    Bryan Harris €75

I was wondering whether there are any decent tutors out in the new range at Portmarnock??

A definitive thread on lessons and prices etc would be good on this site. The odd lessons query seems to appear every now and again. If a decent thread gets going, perhaps it could be stickied?!

Karl Herbert (ex Airport Range) and Anthony Martin (ex Forrest Little) are both teaching there at the moment.

Both are pretty well thought of, Karl has a pretty big client list and has taught a few firends of mine for years. They are very happy with him.

I know Anthony personally, he ran the Junior Academy in Forrest Little for a few years aswell as teaching individually to quite a few. The juniors there won all round them last year in competition so I think that speaks for itself. He helped me remodel my swing two years ago and my game improved quite a bit for it.

As far as I know lessons are about e40 ish for 30 mins but don't quote me on that.

And no, I don't work there and have no affiliation to either pro or The Kinsealy Grange.

I've found Barry Power in Portmarnock driving range qiute helpful, charges €45 per half hour thats including a DVD of your swing too. Helps having the DVD as you can go back over the lesson at home in case you missed any info during the lesson.

As said above, Anto Martin is well worth a visit at the new range.

He was assistant pro at my club and is very well thought of.

Got lessons for my brother for Christmas, €140 for 5 lessons (5 for the price of 4 special), plus cost of balls, very good value for an intuitive pro.

Had a lesson with Francis in GUI Academy in Carton and he is very good, also feedback from others he has helped has been similarly positive.
You need to take time and practice what you are taught so many lessons together in a package dont often give the best results.
Be prepared to spend time in the driving range to use the advice given by the pro there is no quick fix
    best of luck

Got a lesson in the Kinsealy grange from Anthony Martin. Was quality, within 10 mins had picked out my big flaws, not that theres many!!!!!!!

Im a brutal cutter of the ball and by the end of the lesson Anthony had me shooting straight.

@ €35 for the half hour im happy, really nice set up, ill go back for another.

I went to see barry on wednesday night very good. I am striking the ball much better now, I only started to play the game last August so no handicap yet.:p

I went to see AnthonyMartin over the weekend and he was really good. Like Midasmurran, i didn't have too much wrong, but he got me sorted. Went out today and hit the ball really good. A bit of work to do on my own, but all in all, he was excellent and i'd recommend.

Btw, the new range at Kinsealy Grange is looking good too.
