I think there might be one in Liosban. Can't find any info on the net. Galway city councils enviroment department is only on voicemail.

    Anybody know?

Yeah. Got down there and dropped off about thirty pcs. You can also drop down all glass bottles etc. batteries, furniture or anything.

In fact there was a nice table there which someone must have upgraded and just not had room for.

Can you definitely take tables and stuff there? Thought they were purely for electrical equiptment...
Have a crappy chipboard desk that I should really get rid of instead of carting back to my parent's place when I move out...
Have a ****load of spindles of burned cds that aren't much use to me any more, would they take these as well?

I'd say ring the city council environment dept. to confirm. When I was down there- there was all sorts of stuff there.

Think the man said anyone can drop anything off on public day (sat morning) but you should confirm.

Why do people throw out so many PCs? Id say there's literally 1000's of euros worth binned in that place minimum - granted dumping old 486 and PI PC's is understandable but anything from a P2/P3 upwards is either useful to someone, or worth some amount of money....

The machines I threw out were stripped of memory and hard disks. Some had their processors taken out.

If they were all together I would have thrown them up for sale on adverts but I had my doubts as to whether anyone would be interested in buying a case with an old mb in it and fixing it up to become a fully functional system again.

Very true that some people don't know the value of things they throw out....well either that or they don't care for the hassle of selling because they don't value 10 or 20 euro here or there.

It was the same in work, they tossed out 20 Pentium 4s - with cpu, ram, dvd drives, everything intact. All that was taken out were the hard disks - in some cases not even, as they clearly hadn't a clue about computers and didn't know where the info was stored - one machine had the processor and heatsink ripped from the board and an unwiped HD left in it.

Had a field day collecting various processors, ram, video cards, heatsinks and the like, the slowest cpu was a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 - in itself worth about 20 euro on ebay!

Lucky you. That would make my day.

I used to work in a company and they threw out loads of 512MB ram modules from a server because they had to replace them with 1GB ones.

Made a nice bit of money out of that.

It's just further down on that road beside the red dot, I was a bit off. At the entrance to the road is a sign "Galway council" something. You should find it easily.

    TVP...

I think the tv is in slightly working condition, picture get's a bit jumpy at the top though. I pulled it out of my old apartment as the people living there were moving out, I had left it behind me there about 9 months ago, so I haven't seen it working in that long, but you're welcome to it if you want it. It's missing the remote too.
