Ripping DVDs - Query

Right, I bought an Apple TV a few weeks ago and I'm ripping my DVD collection to an external hard drive. It's going to take a few weeks due to the volume and the length of time it takes to convert, but I've encountered one problem so far.

I'm using Handbrake, but I've encountered a couple of issues with some DVDs, names Spider-Man 3, Casino Royale and Ghostbusters. The problem is the conversion completes in about 30 seconds (and says the job is done) but it only rips the first 30 seconds. The only thing they (being the DVDs) have in common is that they are all Columbia or Sony Columbia DVDs (oddly enough, none of the other Bond films have this issue, nor any of the earlier Spider-Man films).

My query is twofold. Is there any way around this if anyone else has encountered it before or is there another program I could use other than Handbrake?

    Regards,
    Chris

I don't mean to be smart or anything, but just to rule it out... Is that the first 30seconds of the film or just the opening Columbia pictures yada yada yada.....

Just make sure that you have the main feature that you want to rip/convert. Other than that though, I'm off little help I'm afraid.

It could be a matter of the DVD's being copy protected seeing as they seem to be quite recent titles. Make sure that your Handbrake is up to date.

Also, as an alternative to actually ripping the DVD, there is MacTheRipper. However, to encode I use Handbrake I'm afraid.

    Hope this helps :)

    VisualHub is my choice!

for ripping the DVD's use MacTheRipper, then convert in visualhub/handbrake/etc..

Handbrake can't handle the latest anti-pirate traps.

Buy Mac The Ripper then buy VisualHub.

    Then you're Sorted.
