Hi I am currently living in France for the next while. Would it be worth my while having a camera bought in USA by a friend and sent over to France or should I just buy it here? Which would be cheaper?

    Thanks for any helpful replies

What camera do you want to buy? FNAC are currently looking for 1169E for a 40D body only so the States is possibly less expensive, but the French customs might well be interested in the arrival of a camera from the States.

Avoid FNAC like the plague, they're horrendously expensive - it makes Irish prices look good value. If you're in Paris Blvd Beaumarchais is the place to go for choice. There's a place which is pretty good, but whose name escapes me at the moment, up near Cirque D'Hiver. It's on the left as you walk towards Republique and they've 2 or 3 shops side by side selling different gear

Camera gear is pretty expensive in France in general. I've looked extensively, and haven't come up with anything very exciting online either, even for delivery within France.

Line 8, Metro Stop St Sebastian Froissart and walk in the direction of Bastille. A number of shops on both sides of the street
