Has anyone had an impacted canine removed or transplanted?

I had one a couple of years ago. Baby canine was still in place, adult tooth in the roof of my mouth. The procedure was to be the removal of wisdom teeth, swing back molars to make room for the canine (front teeth were overcrowded) and then to extract the baby canine and pull the main one down using a hook attached to the main tooth (which was to be "exposed" in the roof of my mouth).

This was teh procedure a couple of years ago..not sure if the treatment is still teh same.
