Thinking about going contracting and wondering about the pros and cons vs permanency. Wondering if anyone could tell me, if have a decent accountant and say you were getting a daily rate of 500 a day (say 10000 gross monthly approx) how much would you get into your hand after the state has taken their pound of flesh? If anyone can provide a ball park figure i'd appreciate it greatly.

If you do things properly you should get 75/80% in your pocket, PAYE/PRSI paid.
Not talking about the VAT, which is not to be taken into account anyway.
