    Hi all,

Me and a few friends are heading over to san fran in june for 3 months hopefully. we were just wondering if its possible to get a house for short term for the 3 months that were over there. Just wondering has anyone who has headed over there for 3 months done this? and are the houses that are there really expensive to rent out??

    thanks!

I'd check out Berkeley, its College town outside of SF and Oakland about a 20min subway journey. Really nice place its full of young people from all over. Very much a place to stay for a good time and plenty of parties, shouldn't have any problem finding accommodation as its full of empty Frat houses as its the students summer hols!

    Hi,

I stayed in Berkely in 2000 and 2001 (long time ago now!) and had a great laugh, worked in downtown SF so got the Bart every day.. pm me and ill give u the address maybe u can try it...
Otherwise alot of people stayed in the Fillmore Apartments on Fillmore and Geary.. but every year a group of spoilt richkid Irish students tend to trash an apartment or two and some years they don't take Irish.. last I heard they we taking them, I stayed there syself for a few weeks and it's a good spot...

wel i would just advise to spend ages going though craigslist on the short term bit of it. though it ctually nearly better to do it nearer to the time, i found. because they want you to come and visit the place and i felt they were reluctant to just deal with it all over email etc.
also just get familiar with the areas of sanfran.
sunset is a district which is about 30mins away from the centre of the city on the muni, accomodation would be slightly cheaper out there..though be warned it gets really foggy there, you would be surprised how the weather can be different in areas that don't seem that far apart!
