Flights to L.A

    Hi!

Ok, my cousin is getting married in L.A on 28th June. My parents and two younger brothers are considering going (they are going to hire a camper when over there and travel for a bit - we own a camper here so this is no biggy really)

BUT, the cheapest flights I can find (have been looking for last two months or so) work out at around €3,500 in total for the four of them. Is this the minimum they can expect to pay? I know its LA and its the summer and all the rest but I still thought they would be able to get cheaper flights that that? Maybe around €2,500 in total, no? Anyone got any ideas/recommendations?

I have used Dial A Flight in the UK on several occasions in the past when travelling long distances like this.

    link here

Assuming for example you would like to travel on 24th June and back on 10th July:
Our Best Flight Fare from GATWICK to LOS ANGELES is from £331 + £73 tax (Total £404) leaving on 24 June 2008, and returning from Los Angeles on 10 July 2008. For other dates please call or use the search box below.

Of course you would also have to factor in cost of flight and inconvenience to gatwick.

    Regards

..and the fact that he flight might not be direct, so making it a two-change scenario.

Taking the 24th of June as a departure date and a return of the 6th of July I found the following:

    BA via Heathrow - €2985.20
Air France via CDG (returning on the 7th) - €3118
    KLM via Amsterdam - €3513

Changing in the US might be an option

Delta was €3211.43, Continental was much the same.

I doubt you'll find much different to be honest when taxes, charges etc are added. It;s a peak time of year, and flights will always be dear around then

Thanks for that! That dial-a-flight seems to work out a little cheaper - can get returt aer lingus flights for €300 in total... Worth looking into. Thanks a mill... Any more suggestions appreciated... :)
