I've been to the Caribbean during July - hot but not too humid. Yes its hurricane season, but the chances of a hurricane striking wherever you are is quite low - the hurricane belt is a vast area and you'd be staying on one small island. You may get a couple of days of rain/wind if one blows through, but chances are it'll be a long way from you and you won't get the real "hurricane experience". Not that you'd want to of course!
