Accept I always wanted to play it on a Friday night.

Oh wait that's pretty much what you have done!! :D:D

Anyway Eoghan I'm sure you won't turn up your nose at a bit of yamaha on a Wednesday.

    P.S. On a general note isn't competition great.... :p

Yeh i must say Im all about the Yamaha!!!

I used to agree with you about the competition but at the moment with all 4 casinos offering such good games its diluting the fields. Its hard now to find a tournament with 50+ runners in the week which I dont like.

It's funny if you play the well structured games you find yourself running into the same (slightly ) better players and if you play the crapshoots they are so fish filled that the crapshooty nature of the thing is often mitigated.

I actually think there are less tournie players these days and its not just a competition thing.

But certainly the days of rolling in to the Fitz on a Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs night and having guaranteed 60+ player fields seem to be gone.

I have updated the sticky with these events. If anyone from the SE would like to review and PM me any changes if necessary, then feel free.

any details for the tuesday sats yet!?

a nice addition to the tournie sticky would be if each club would volunteer their average runners per tournie over a 6 week period. Therefore if I was looking for a game on say, Thursday nights, I lcould look up the schedule which would look something like this.

    Club: Game: Structure: Av. runners:
    A 50+5 FO 5k, 30 mins 25
    B 40+40+10+5 scalps 3k+3.5k, 20/25 mins 50
    C 20 rebuy 3k, 25 mins 20
    D 65+5 PLO FO 7k, 25 mins 35

I really think the average runners info is vital (personally I want to play tournies with 5 or more tables). Whether the clubs would be willing to release this is another thing....

What time do the midweek ones kick off at?

I like the improvement in some of these tournys. The Fitz have made a real effort. CHLs are also trying to accomadate a more varied starting time and the SE is promoting Omaha tournies now and the jackpot are always updating their tourny schedules.

I think all normal midweek tournys should have a finish time at 2.30 am . Remaining players should be paid out by chip count. The benefit of winning a midweek tourny at the moment is far outweighed by the loss of sleep/health etc. IMO.

Thurs-Sun should all play to a finish (at least on Sunday you can sleep in in advance)

I suppose that choice is made before you go into the tournament. I prefer to get some sleep, so midweek is out for me for 2008 (for regular tournaments anyway) .

4.00 and 5.00 am finishes are rediculous for people with days jobs. REd Bull can only do so much....

the value will be in bed so.....

Don't forget, tonight is the first night of the New Tournament Schedule. Tonight's Double Chance with Scalp is the Old Saturday Tournament, the only difference being 1,000 extra chips ( 6,000 instead of 5,000 ).

9pm Start with entry allowed until the end of Level 1 ( 9.20pm ).

For the full details of the Tournament Schedule or Irish Open Satellites check our website www.thesportingemporium.com or phone the Poker room on 01-7030679.

it'd be handy if you updated your website to include the new tournament schedule because its still showing the old one

Glad to see the structure has changed for Friday and Saturday. Should be better play for those of us who can't make the weekday ones due to that work thingy...

What are the numbers usually like for the Friday night tournie?
Also what is the usual finish time?

In Dublin this Friday and trying to decide where to go.

Also what's the cash action like Friday night?

Sorry for the late reply. Friday night's Tournament averages 55 runners but with the change to a €50 entry that number should rise to at least 70.

The Tournament usually finishes between 3 and 4.a.m.

There is normally at least 6 or 7 Cash Games with the first game starting around 9.30pm. Friday night is a good night if you fancy a No Limit Hold'em Cash game. Pot Limit Hold'em and Omaha are also on offer.
