    Hi Guys,

In my opinion I think Wheelo is running out of time at intercounty level.

I love the big man and I thought he done a job with Ryan in the centre of the park for a few years, but surley they are both nearing the end at this level. If we want to beat the northern teams/Kerry we need to keep blooding new players. You dont see the top teams like Tyrone or Kerry holding on to players on a sentimental note.

    Any opinions?

    Regards
    Ian

Ciarán still has what it takes to compete at the highest level but you have to feel that this might be his last year for the Dubs so hopefully, we'll win back Sam as a fitting end to "White Glove's" career!

Christ, whelan past it, wish we had a midfielder like that..gets away with murder though in some games..lifts the dubs when he is on song

General consensus is that this is Whelos last year but you see Graham Geraghty at 34/35 still playing even though this will be his last season for sure so it would suggest that Whelan could go on for another two-three years.

Shane Ryan is 28 or 29.He has a few years left in him.Agree that we need to get new young midfielders but this is only to give them experience so that when the veterans go,we'll have a strong experienced and relatively young midfield setup. You have Darren Magee as an option as well. He's been around a few years and now young Eamon Fenell who looks quite good.

I think its fair to say that the future looks bright for Dublin.Got McMahon and Barry Kennedy in the forward line. They look like dangerous forwards but we'll see how long they last.I think they will.Good to see Leonard get a runout in goal on Saturday but its hard to imagine anybody of Cluxtons calibre replacing him in years to come.It took years to find a suitable replacement for O Leary.

Whelan has not gone yet, and Ryan certainly has plenty of time in him. Both are very influential. More than likely it will be Whelan's last year, especially if Sam doesn't have to leave Dublin next September. :)

A loss for the Dublin team, the Ballinteer St Johns man was a formidable defender with a ruthless style of defending.Great defender but could get himself in compromising positions such as giving a penalty to Wexford in 05.O Shaughnessy is a shoe in to named on the panel for the championship.Excellent defender and knows how to run in and block shots on goal.Against Wicklow last week he took no prisoners and fully committed himself. He could be the answer to our problem in defence.

Goggins played most of his football at wing back for Dublin and there are a lot of players better than O'Shaughnessy in that position. Tbh, it'll be a travesty if Ger Brennan isn't given a proper run in the team. He was by far the best defender in the Dublin championship and is only going to get better. I wouldn't go judging players on their form in the O'Byrne Cup either.
