Does anyone know how to do this? I've got a netopia router from Eircom and I've been looking at the guide to putting your PS3 into DMZ here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610541 but he just says your router should have a DMZ host function on it. I can't find this anywhere on the Netopia config page.

    Cheers.

Whats the model number of the router? It might not have a DMZ option if it's from a couple of years back.

another one bites the dust...... these threads should be banned now, you'd find 4/5 over the past 2 weeks alone

    A slight exaggeration.

While you're at it, you may as well ban all the "What game will I get next?", "I've just got a PS3" and "Whats the difference between the different PS3 versions?" threads.

Seriously though, I thought the title of the thread was explanatory enough so that if its a topic you've seen several times you could easily have avoided it...

I count 1 thread about DMZ settings on eircom routers in the least two weeks. Calm down.

DMZ settings, NAT type 2 etc... its all the same thing.... ive gave a detailed description of how to get it online with Eircom 2/3 times!!. and this is about the 4/5th thread in the past few weeks.... a simple search wouldnt go a miss instead of the same questions constantly been asked and answered

I've already got NAT 2 and can play online and wasn't asking about NAT.

A DMZ is very different to NAT and port forwarding.

One influences the other, sometimes. The same thing? Definitely not.

He's already got his PS3 online, his question is about DMZ settings on a specific router.

I did a search for DMZ, got one specific post in the last two weeks. Some stuff about getting online with particular games also. Stop having a go at the guy and either help him or get lost.

Some routers without DMZ do have a setting, I can't remember what it's called now I'll try and check later, that forwards all traffic to one device and essentially gives it's own IP address to the device. This will be equivelent from the PS3s perspective to being in a DMZ, the downside is that other devices won't have access to the net. If that's any use ?

Hmm, that could be worth a try. I don't generally have other devices connected at the same time as the PS3 is online - certainly not often enough to rule out giving it a shot.
