.... is a reality/documentary series on BBC3. Last night it invited members of the public, from all walks of life, in to view the slaughter of goats.

Interesting to watch how it was done and the audiences reaction and their opinions after to the whole slaughter process right up to the butchering and eating of these goats (they were invited to eat the finished product).

Tonights show will show the slaughtering of calves, the butchering and the served up meal after. It is on at 10.30pm BBC3 (for those of you who can recieve BBC3). This is the link, not sure if you can download the show.

It also handy for tips on cleaning & butchering deer etc....

watched bits of it. i liked where the show went trying to intoduce the public into eating veal. they said 135000 calves in the uk are shot each year as there is no economic value for them. If they could get the public to change there perceptions of eating calves they could be slaughtered for food, as they say it makes lovely meat. i think iv only eaten it once but it was lovely. I work in the cattle end of things here, i dont think they dispose of that many calves here in Ireland.

Ya, the two vegetarians who suddenly turned vegan put a grin on my chops (no pun intended).

On the whole I agree with the airing of the show as it educates those who are not in the know on how humane/quick death is and how the whole sterile process works. It's not everybodys cup of tea, but it should silence the critics or doubting Thomas's.

I wonder are they as professional as the UK are, over here in slaughter houses i.e. vet on standby examining all animals etc?

    Tonights show is on lambs.

Veal steaks and chops are criminally delicious :D. Very big deal on the continent, retail for about 30 euro a kilo
