    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101410/

Speaking of the Coens, I think this film was my first introduction to them. Didn't know a thing about it, just managed to catch it on TV late one night, and was completely astounded. I've always felt this was a little under-rated, and gets overshadowed by the likes of Fargo and The Big Lebowski, when it should stand beside them.

Yeah definitely their most under-rated film (although it is highly rated by those who have seen it, theres just not that many of them. More underviewed).

Watched it when I picked up the boxset a few years ago and loved it. I remember being transfixed by it. Very different to their other films, although admittedly all their films (with the exception of one or two e.g. Blood Simple - Fargo) are extremely different both thematically and stylistically. Probably their most intelligent film.

Haven't seen it in a good two or three years though so perhaps a rewatch shall be on the cards at some point this week, along with Hudsucker which I haven't seen in ages.

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't seen this yet :o. It's one of those which always seemed to elude me. I hope to watch it this evening and I see Sky Movies is planning to show it four times in February.

Exactly the same scenario for me Karl. Caught it years ago unprepared on tv and was mesmerised. My favourite coens film perhaps mostly because of when and how I saw it and the level of impact it had on me at that exact moment in time.

It's a great film, alright. John Goodman is fantastic and the set pieces in general are incredible
My favourite has to be where Turturro complains about the noise next door and is left listening as the manager rings next door and we hear the muffled shouts and then the footsteps marching to Turturro's door. IT's just brilliantly done.

To my shame, I've never seen this.
To my credit, I've just ordered it off of play.com for €6.50 (and threw in "Miller's Crossing" too).
