Decent Filter?

    Hi Folks,
I've just bought a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 AF-S IF ED VR, and I want to protect my baby.
So far, I've mainly just bought a filter to protect the lens, but if I'm going to buy one, I may as well buy one which actually does something.
Also, of course, I want to retain the razor-sharpness from this beauty.

I currently have a UV filter over my 80-200mm 2.8 but quite frankly, I may as well have nothing image-wise. They were more important for film photography, digital, I don't see a difference between UV and no UV.
Do I buy any old filter to protect the lens, or is there a useful filter?

    Any suggestions?

Hoya pro1Digital are coated on both sides and prevents internal reflections
I have one of them on every lens and it does make a difference when shooting outside on a sunny day (compared with cheap ones that is)

yep....pro1 uv.....only 1mm thick glass...I get mine through Kea photo via e-bay...decent enough price and great service. (last 77mm I bought recently only took 5 days to arrive from HK to Wexford!)

If you want a quality filter, buy B&W, nothing less.
