    Hi All,

Here are the details of the National student archery championships which will be held in Carlow IT on the 9th of February.

There will be no team prizes at this, this will be an individual competiton run on a head to head basis. The 60 arrrows in the morning will count towards the overall league score for both teams and individuals.

    There will be four categories:
    1) Advanced - 40 cm face or 20 cm 3 spot
    2) Beginner - 60 cm face
    3) Barebow - 60 cm face
    4) Compound - 20 cm 3 spot

Archers will shoot a 60 arrow qualification in the morning, the same way as normal, shooting two lots of 30 arrows. The top 32 in each section will advance to the knockout stage. In the knockout stage each archer will be ranked based on their score in the morning, 1st will shoot off against 32nd, 2nd against 31st etc. with the winner advancing to the next round. Each match will be 12 arrows with a 1 arrow shoot off used in tied matches.

There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section

This will be a longer competition so because of this the shoot will start earlier than usual and breaks will be shorter because of time constraints.

Group 1: Starting at 9:30am Carlow IT, UCD, DCU, DIT, RCSI

Group 2 Starting at 11am UL, GMIT, NUIG, NUIM, DKIT

Each college will be limited to 12 places. More places may be available if some colleges dont use their full quota.

Due to extra costs for prizes and extra faces the price per archer for this tournament will be €10.

Could all colleges please email me as soon as possible with entries please. The earlier I know how many are in each category the easier it will make it for structuring the head to head rounds.

hope to see you all in February

Phil told me he was getting a few questions about the score for our shoot.

    So Just to Clarify,

The 60 arrow qualification in the morning will count towards the individual league.

The team scores will also count for the team league.

there will be no team prizes on the day

We have loads of team competitions so it's nice to have an individual one too.

Can each college please have their team list into me by Wednesday next week. I need to work out the knockout round for the afternoon so the earlier I know how many are in each section the better.

Hope to see you all there for a very enjoyable shoot.

We'll have at least one new champion anyway (enjoy OZ niamh;))

    Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to everyone yesterday at Carlow for making RCSI feel so welcomed! You guys were amazingly friendly and the team thoroughly enjoyed the shoot! We really hope to attend as many shoots as possible now that the club is set up and running!
But once again thanks to everyone! It was great fun and we had an amazing time!

    Cheers,
    Reinold

    Hey Guys

Great job at the weekend, that was a monster of a tourney for organisation - it was essentially a double FITA followed by a knockout phase as well as a compound round-robin on the side.

    Kudos to all involved! :p:D:p:D
