The electricity went for an hour yesterday in my area. After it came back on my Sky+ box is saying 'no satellite signal being received'. It was working perfectly earlier in the day. Could a power surge have blown something? Any help would be great!

Im getting that too after the weather yesterday. But only on some channels.
Signal qulaity and strength are fine.
Hopeing it will be back to normal tonight and also hoping the wind didnt knock it out of alignment slightly

I got it sorted by doing the following -

Go to the installer menu (press 'Services' then press 4, 0, 1, Select) then select option 2 for 'Default Transponder' then press the red button to reset the settings then select 'save new settings' and it fixed it.

Hope this helps with any problems that ye are having.

    I am getting it too.
    rang Sky.
they talked me through a reset.
    still no signal.

THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST 65 FOR A CALLOUT

are they mad or do they just think I am ?
I pay 72 a month to rent something that doesnt work and they want me to pay to get it fixed.

    GOODBYE SKY.

You dont rent equipment from Sky, you own it, read the t+c on the contract you signed.

Can always threaten to cancel the sub - they may waive the fee for the repair (it's worked for some), or they may take you at your word and cancel the sub :D

IMO, we are paying a high enough tariff - most boxes/dishes work flawlessly for years bringing in €1000s for SKY. I think they should foot the bill when the equipment gives trouble. Owning the box and dish is neither here nor there - your average Joe wants the box and dish to watch his pay-for SKY channels. He doesn't care whether he owns or rents the box.

You only pay for the TV channels. You arn't renting anything. But the box does have a warranty.

€65 is reasonable for a Callout. 5mins at doctor €50, and I had to go to him, 1 hr travel time total.

If you can swap with a different receiver that will tell you if Dish alignment, or LNB or cable is OK/Fault.
