Hi, not sure if I'm in the right forum for this. I'm thinking about buying some land adjoining my property but I don't know who owns it. I have asked a few locals and keep getting different answers. How do I go about finding the real owner? Thanks

Go to the Land Registry office. They'll tell you who owns it.

I think this might be better suited elsewhere but I'm not too sure if Accommodation & Property is the place.

I'll let muffler and Mellor have a look.

Thanks. Is knowing the address is sufficient information to bring to the land registry?

The address would be handy but you will have to point the exact piece of land out on a map.

Yes .... and be able to pick it out on a map. If you have a map of your own property bring it with you. It'll help with this.

Edit.... Smashey beat me to it.

Accom. & Property would be a better home for it but its a straight forward answer. As smashey said - Land registry, with or without a map. You could also ask your solicitor to do this for you but he/she would pass it on to law searchers in Dublin who then go into the land reg. office and charge a bit of money naturally.

If you are in Dublin or can travel easily to it then their offices are located at Chancery Street, behind the four courts
