i think thats the laptop, so with 1 year warrenty the laptop costs 422euro from dell, from dells epp site it's probably a few euro below the 399 :)

It's a really crap laptop though. You'd be better off spending an extra €100 or so and getting something with a better spec.

If they gave it for nothing I wouldn't touch Perlico with a 40 foot pole.

Their computer knowledge is also a bit suspect.
1024MB RAM - 1024 MB 667MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x 512 MB) This is the overall memory available on the computer to store information.
    :D

If they gave me €399 plus the laptop, got Bertie to own up and Gerry Ryan to shut up, I still wouldn't go with Perlico.

Whats wrong with Perlico? Who would you recommend?

Haven't they been bought out by Vodafone as a quick entry into the home broadband market ?
If that's the case then hopefully they should improve as cash is thrown into them.

Can someone please enlighten us as to wht Perlico are viewed so negatively?

I also received their snazzy newsletter and their prices v Eircom are almost too
good not to take up which of course rings the alarm bells but seeing as I know
sweet f.a about the company does anyone have a first hand account of what they
are like as a service provider?

    thx

How reliable is their broadband service traumadoc?

I have had no problems (Waterford), compared to three ( disaster) and BT (Dublin) - uncontactable until I rang up the main office number and let my feelings be known.

Perlico communicated right through the installaton by test mssage with password del. dates etc.

I had to wait for a month to get it installed because Eircom refused to give me my own account number.

Perhaps slighty off topic but ..........

Too long and convoluted to go into here. In a nutshell, their customer service is the worst by far that I have ever come across. They threatened me with legal action for a debt I didnt owe and it took the threat of a counter suit to stop them sending debt collectors after me and ruining my credit rating. This all cost me money which I can never recover and I never got so much as an apology. In short, if you have a problem, forget about Perlic making any effort to solve it.

i've had many people complain to me about Perlico screwing people with their direct debits

Their customer service stats, how accurate or reliable, I've no idea.

My uncle is with Perlico for his phone service, they seemingly have a very good call package that gives all sorts of free calls. Anyway, the rang him one day offering free broadband. After going through the details, he found out he'd have to change from his current call package to a more expensive one, that seemed to not give as much, so he said no.

Three weeks later, the modem arrived in the post and he found out that they'd changed his call package without his permission. His bill was now higher and he was being billed for calls that previously would have been free/included. He's still going through the motions of getting them to undo this, but Perlico are denying all responsibility.

In short, I wouldn't touch them either.

They are the most aggressive, pushy company I've come across. My experience with one of their sales guys and the MD had me thinking "what scumbags".

I honestly would not use them even if they were free.

Seriously, they make Eircom look good, which is just totally ****ed.
