Cable Repeater

    Hi guys,

We get very low signal in our house for NTL (even for analogue TV) so every so often especially at the weekend the connection gets lost for 3 or four hours at a time. I've sat there monitoring the remote access page of the NTL modem itself and it's constantly cycling through the frequencies to lock onto a signal but just doesn't seem to be able to find it.

Other times it'll lock on but won't receive a reply to the DHCP request and will go run the gauntlet again of cycling through the frequencies. Would it be possible to amplify the signal coming in in the first place? Is there such a thing as a cable repeater?

It is possible with a two way signal amplifier. But really just give NTL a call and get a service engineer out.

    There is.
But it would need fitted before the signal gets so low, or the Modem just gets more noise. The Modem is a sensitive as can be, so once the signal is too low at your house it is too late :(

The problem is outside your house. Ring UPC.
